Bogdan J. Dumitrescu is the CEO & Founding Principal of BJD Reinsurance Consulting, LLC based in New York and brings to his clients 30 years experience in the finance, insurance and reinsurance markets worldwide.

BJD Re is a Global Risks Financing and Strategy Management Company, with offices in US and France.

The company is a member of ARISE, the Private Sector Alliance for Resilient Societies, a stakeholder component of the United Nations Disaster Risk Reduction agency (UNDRR). BJD Re is benefiting the Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.

Bogdan started his career in 1990 at the Franco-Romanian Bank in Paris as a credit analyst and later as an economist and a counsel to the Chairman and the Board of Directors. He also collaborated as an advisor with the Franco-Romanian Chamber of Commerce and a number of internationally renowned French global groups.

In 1993, he joined J. Van Breda Bank Group and the Belgian office in Paris of Van Breda Insurance and Reinsurance Brokers as a Senior Business Analyst in charge of technical, statistical and actuarial department, covering the broking activities in Europe and the Middle East.

In 1997, he joined the underwriting department of the Caisse Centrale de Réassurance (CCR), the French State government-owned reinsurer where he held the role of Senior Actuarial Analyst. During his time at CCR, he has had direct responsibility for pricing, actuarial and risk analysis, working closely with the technical and underwriting departments.

Since 2009, Bogdan is involved with the global insurance and reinsurance markets, working as an independent risk advisor focusing in particular on national, regional or global insurance, reinsurance and protection schemes. He has been involved in projects with international organizations such as the World Bank, the IMF, the United Nations and the OECD, contributing his broad and innovative thinking to insurance and reinsurance matters of concern.

He is the International Insurance Society Ambassador to Europe, a Founding Board Member and a member of the Audit Committee of the Romanian Insurance Guarantee Fund.

All along his career, Bogdan gained experience and developed knowledge of risk management, public-private partnerships projects in insurance, reinsurance and finance, catastrophe pools and schemes, new risks and emerging markets, risks involving financial and capital markets products and services connected to the governmental strategies and regulatory policies.

Bogdan is a graduate in Economics and Econometrics from Paris-Nanterre University, and holds a Master in Science in Statistics and Computer Science applied to Economics and Finance from Paris Panthéon-Assas University. He has followed in Paris courses and professional training in Finance and Actuarial Science at the Conservatoire des Arts et Métiers, at the Center for Actuarial Studies - and Pierre et Marie Curie University and has taught Actuarial Science and Reinsurance.
